In this section of the blog you will find useful advice on how to use LibreOffice Impress to design and deliver effective presentations.

Why? Well, because I believe that public speaking is a terrific opportunity to get your message across, move people, and possibly spread the idea even more. I also believe that visual aids, aka slides, are often overused and misused causing what is commonly known as death by powerpoint. Don’t be fooled by the MS name …. you can achieve the same painful outcome with Keynote or Impress. Public speaking is my great passion and presentation design is part of it not to say part of my job as well.

Good visual aids cannot make a great presentation per se, but bad visual aids can seriously hinder one. Google worst powerpoint ever and you will find some slides that neither Steve Jobs would have been able to present successfully.

Yes here we will talk about designing good visual aids.

LibreOffice ImpressWhy is it LibreOffice then? For one I love open source. The second point I want to make is that if the tool is the right one and is properly used the results are achievable. I believe Impress is a good tool. This blog is about how to use it effectively (not on how to use Impress). There’ll be posts on good slide design principles with their application in LibreOffice.

If you want to know more about you can visit the LibreOffice Impress page. If you are after the help here it is. If you want to find specific resources on how to get the best out of it to create good visual aids: …. have a nice reading of this blog!
